History Virtua’s original concept was inspired by Libby Lowther. Libby is the president of Lowther & Associates, an insurance adjusting and investigation firm started in 1974. In the scope of providing liability claims services to a governmental entity pool in Utah insuring approximately 325 governmental entities in the state, Libby realized the many inadequacies in existing software offerings to manage liability insurance claims for the local insurance pool. The cost to utilize the Trust’s existing software did not provide an ROI for either Lowther & Associates or her pool client. Because they could not find an existing system that could effectively and affordably accommodate actual workflow requirements, experienced software analysts and developers Chris Hample and Conrad Brandt studied and analyzed the processes in both entities, evaluated their goals, and determined how to achieve an ROI for both entities by developing an efficient web based system based on the actual work flow requirements. The system has been so effective that the governmental entity pool is currently funding the expansion of its use beyond a claims system to incorporate policy management, underwriting, document management, loss control and member access to online training. |
